Michigan license information:
First year in which Michigan motorists were required to get a Michigan automobile license (plates may not have been required): 1919. Drivers were first required to pass a Michigan Motor Vehicle operator's test in order to obtain a Michigan automobile license starting in 1931.
Prior to passenger vehicle licenses, Michigan did have a Chauffeur law, in 1915.
