Vintage Washington LICENSE PLATES FOR SALE LINK plus Best Old Plates

Best Antique Washington license plates: The great Northwest is known for its tough-guy loggers and fishermen -- which explains an unusually heavy and sturdy 1917 license plate...So, who picked that white on pale pinkish lavender color combo? While not as, well, "pretty" as the pink 1917 Colorado plate, Washington's second issue is intriguing, as the color quickly faded when exposed to light, air and water. Other notable early Washington tags are the three distinct 1920 issues: One was a 1919 black-on-yellow embossed metal base plate, with a total of fourteen holes: Four horizontal mounting slots, four small corner holes, and six rather narrow vertical slots, and arranged in two vertical parallel lines, flanking the state and year designations which covered roughly the left-hand third of the plate. To validate for 1920, a porcelain tab was secured, black on white in color, and which bore a 1920 expiration date, as well as the same number of the base plate. That is the first, and most common version of the 1920 Washington license plate; the second was a full-sized porcelain license plate, created in two different sections of white-on-black, and black-on-yellow, designed to simulate a 1919 plate with a 1920 year tab. For some reason, the phony "year tab" did not include a number. For some other, equally odd reason, those fourteen holes were all included on the full porcelain version of the plate! The third, and perhaps most scarce version of the 1920 Washington plate was a full painted and embossed non-porcelain version; this one was also partially black on white and black on yellow; however, it contained no porcelain, no number on its painted on "tab", and no extra vertical slots.

Best of the "Not-so- Old Washington license plates: The 1889- 1939 GOLDEN JUBILEE" is one of Washington's nicest license plates, and features an attractive gold-on-green color motif. Interestingly, the jurisdiction in this particular plate reads, "STATE OF WASHINGTON." Toughest/Most Rare Washington plates: The 1916 Washington first issue license plate is the hardest one to find.
